Starting at the Chevron station located at the divergence of US-84 and US-285 north of Espanola.
Proceed north on US-84 going up the west side of this loop to Tierra Amarilla. Along the way, pass the Georgia O’Keefe Welcome Center, Abiquiu Dam, Ghost Ranch, and Echo Amphitheater. There are ample scenic vistas and roadside photo opportunities. At Tierra Amarilla, turn eastbound on US-64 toward Tres Piedras. This stretch of roadway is very fun, twisty, and scenic. At the summit, stop at the scenic pull out on the left for a broad view of the territory to the west.
Continue east on US-64 to Tres Piedras. At Tres Piedras, turn south on US-285 toward Espanola and pass through more scenic terrain. Along the way, stop at the Ojo Caliente mineral springs and take a soak in a private bath of natural hot springs. Continue south to the intersection of US-84/US-285 to end this loop just north of Espanola, NM.
